Turkish International Cooperation Agency continues to work in Syria despite uncertainty and tension
DAMASCUS (A.A) - September 27, 2011 - Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA) continues to work in Syria despite uncertainty and tension.
In an exclusive interview with the AA, TIKA's Damascus Coordinator Emre Yuksek said that they worked on projects concerning the restoration of Ottoman works of art as well as on providing assistance to Palestinian refugees living in Syria.
TIKA's Damascus office began operations in April 2010. Most of our works involve the protection of cultural heritage and works of art. On top of our list is the Suleymaniye Social Complex. Drawings and preparation for this project have been completed. This project is one of TIKA's biggest projects. We will hold a tender for the implementation of the project within this year, Yuksek said.
Yuksek said that they were working on restoring Ottoman works of art in various Syrian cities.
In addition to the restoration of cultural heritage, we have provided assistance to 3,700 Palestinian students. Our assistance included school uniforms, school bags and stationery items, Yuksek also said.
