Turkiye’s FM Undertakes Two-Day Visit to Malaysia
PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), July 15 (Bernama) -- Turkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit Malaysia on July 15-16.
He will be hosted by Foreign Minister Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry said in statement.
This is Fidan’s first visit to Malaysia since being appointed as the Foreign Minister on June 3, 2023.
During the visit, the two Foreign Ministers are expected to discuss various bilateral issues following the elevation of the ties to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in July 2022, the statement said.
High on the agenda is included the multi-faceted cooperation in trade and investment, defence, education, as well as science and technology.
Both Ministers will also exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern, including those affecting the Muslim Ummah.
Fidan is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Turkiye is Malaysia’s third-largest trading partner, largest export destination and sixth-largest import source from West Asia.
In 2022, trade with Turkiye increased by 12.6 per cent to RM20.25 billion (US$4.62 billion) from RM17 billion (US$4.10 billion) in 2021.
