US Congress staff delegation visits Representatives Council

Manama, Feb. 20 (BNA): The Council of Representatives received today a delegation from the US Congress staff, as part of their official visit to the Kingdom.
The Representatives Council’s Secretariat General gave a presentation about the parliamentary march in the Kingdom of Bahrain since the launch of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's Reform Project, democratic process and the comprehensive development process.
The Secretariat General affirmed the legislative branch’s keenness to boost parliamentary diplomatic relations and exchange experiences with the US Congress.
It also reviewed the formation of the bicameral National Assembly and the specialties of both councils and their cooperation with the government, especially in the legislative fields, in accordance with the National Action Charter and the 2012 constitutional amendments.
The presentation also shed lights on the terms of reference of the Council of Representatives, as well as its work mechanisms, services and achievements.
The Secretariat General briefed the US Congress staff delegation about its qualitative programmes during the sixth legislative term.
The US Congress staff delegation commended the Government of Bahrain’s efforts and pioneering parliamentary march at the regional level, stressing the need to continue exchanging visits and expertise between the legislative branches in both countries.
The two sides also discussed ways to activate parliamentary diplomacy and coordinate stances at various international parliamentary gatherings to achieve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
