Vice President Of The Arab Parliament: There Is Arab Satisfaction With Iraq's Pivotal Role In Calming Regional Tensions
Baghdad / NINA /- The Foreign Affairs, Politics and National Security Committee concluded today, Saturday the fourth meeting of the third session of the third legislative term, part of which was attended by Adel Al-Assoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, to discuss important files.
Sheikh Shaalan al-Karim, deputy speaker of the Arab Parliament, said, "The meeting praised Iraq's pivotal role in calming the atmosphere and calming regional tensions."
He added, "The members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Politics and National Security from the representatives of the Arab countries expressed their great satisfaction with the return of Iraq to play its role as a major player in resolving the region's crises, especially the contribution to converging views between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which later led to China's adoption of the agreement between the two sides." .
He noted, "The meeting commended the security and political stability in Iraq and the success of the recent conference of the Union of Arab Parliaments, which was headed by Muhammad al-Halbousi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the formation of a delegation headed by al-Halbousi to visit Syria, in addition to discussing the positive results of the visit of Arab Parliament Speaker Adel al-Assoumi to Iraq and his meetings with the four presidencies."
Sheikh Al-Karim said, "The meeting discussed the Sudan file, its security and humanitarian situation, the situation in Yemen, the rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and the issue of Palestine in all its details."
The meeting discussed "the efforts made by the League of Arab States with regard to" Arab food security "as a pivotal pillar of Arab national security, and reviewed the most prominent contents of the Arab food security document issued by the Fifth Conference of the Arab Parliament and the heads of Arab councils and parliaments."
During the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting and the position on following up the implementation of the committee's recommendations at its previous meeting were approved, in addition to presenting the political and security developments in the Arab world during the period between the two meetings.
The meeting discussed "the initial draft of the report on the political situation for the year 2022 and developments in the Arab situation, in addition to discussing the Palestinian issue, as well as developments in the political situation in Arab countries that are witnessing conflicts or instability, in addition to Arab challenges related to Arab water security, climate changes, refugees and displaced persons, and the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis."
In conclusion, the meeting focused on discussing the efforts of the Arab Parliament within the framework of the joint Arab action system.
