LONDON (A.A) - 24.02.2011 - Turkish wines were promoted at a conference and a tasting event in British capital London.

Taner Ogutoglu, director of the platform, told the A.A on Thursday, "Turkey has begun producing high-quality wines in recent years. There are 800 different types of grape in Turkey. If we succeed in drawing attention of people, we can make a great breakthrough."
"Turkey's current exports of wines are about 10 million USD. We aim at increasing it with our promotion activities. The United kingdom is one of the most important commercial partners of Turkey. It is also one of the biggest wine markets in the world," he added.
Following the conference, participants tasted Turkish wines such as Doluca, Kavaklidere, Kayra, Likya, Pamukkale, Selendi, Sevilen and Vinkara.
The Wines of Turkey Platform was established by seven leading wine producers last year to promote Turkey's wines and wineries to the world.
