The 4th International Festival of the Morin Khuur was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The Morin Khuur, or horse head fiddle, is a traditional Mongolian bowed stringed instrument. The festival aims to advertise worldwide Mongolian arts and culture through morin khuur instrument.
The festival was organized by the World Morin Khuur Association, the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism of Mongolia and Cultural and Scientific Foundation of Mongolian Nationals. There were over 100 musicians taking part from a number of countries including Germany, France, China, Japan, Russian, South Korea, the US and Mongolia. Japanese musician Horikawa Mahiro won 1st place at the competition.
