Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities were presented at South Korean Chamber of Commerce. About 150 businessmen learnt about Kazakhstan’s investment climate. Participants were interested in government support for investors, tax incentives, tariffs and import duties. Some South Korean companies expressed intention to manufacture their products in Kazakhstan, and then send them to the Chinese market. In addition, businessmen were interested in the development of alternative energy sources in Kazakhstan.

OLZHAS RAYEV, SPECIAL ADVISOR ON INVESTMENT, KAZAKH EMBASSY IN SOUTH KOREA:

In particular, there was a question regarding electric cars. We said that this is one of our priorities. Kazakhstan is very much interested in that now. We also discussed cooperation opportunities in batteries manufacturing, new methods of energy storage, quickly rechargeable lithium batteries

LEE DE HWANG, SPOKESPERSON, CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, SOUTH KOREA:

Kazakh Embassy workers told about the prospects of Kazakhstan’s development. The seminar was attended by representatives of construction corporations, engineering, energy and industrial companies. This means that this year relations between Korea and Kazakhstan are most likely to develop mainly in these areas.

Over 300 joint enterprises with the participation of Korean capital operate in Kazakhstan at present, for instance, confectionery and electronic devices manufacturing plant in Almaty, iron alloys manufacturing plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Oil Company in Atyrau. All this is an example of successful development of Korean business in Kazakhstan.
