Business Tendency Index Rise

Jakarta, Aug 6 (ANTARA) - The business tendency index in Indonesia during the April-June period has risen to 104.22 points, compared with the previous quarter`s 103.89, according the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). "The business environment in Indonesia this quarter, according to the nation`s businessmen, has improved from that of the previous quarter," BPS Head Suryamin said here on Monday. "The increase was seen in almost all sectors of business, except the mining and exploration sector," he added. Trade, hotel and restaurant seemed to be the most promising business sectors in Indonesia, with index value of 110.21, followed by services (106.17), agriculture, cattle, forestry and fishery (106.15), processing industry (106.06), financial, real estate and company services (105.77), construction (104.83), transportation and communication (104.14). The electricity, gasoline and clean water sectors had the lowest index value, with 102.06. Meanwhile, the mining and exploration sector decreased to 92.55 points, compared with previous quarter`s 102.13. "The agriculture sector also saw a decline from 117.31 to 106.15," Suryamin said. The business tendency index rose during the April-June period due to an increase in production capacity, average working hours and revenues.
