Investor Plans To Build Shipyard In Kupang

Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Feb 24 (Antara) - An investor from Surabaya plans to build a shipyard in the regency of Kupang in East Nusa Tenggara with an investment of Rp250 billion. The shipyard will occupy a land plot of 10 hectares at the village of Hansisi in the sub-district of Semau, Kupang Regent Ayub Titu Eki, said here on Monday. Ayub said he had visited the village to inspect the location owned by local villagers. He said he advised the land owners not to sell the land, instead they should convert the asset into share in the project. "That way they would earn from any gain made in shipyard investment project," he said without naming the investor. He said realization of the project would take place after the operation of a power plant to be built in East Nusa Tenggara. The shipyard project would need large supply of power, therefore, implementation would depend much on the realization of the power plant project, he said. State electricity company PLN plans to build a team powered electricity plant in East Nusa Tanggara.
