Iran, Armenia Call For Enhanced Energy Co-op

Moscow, Nov 3, IRNA – Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian and Armenian Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Ara Simonyan, in Moscow on Saturday held talks on ways to promote mutual cooperation in energy sector. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 44th meeting of energy ministers of the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) which is currently underway in Moscow. Referring to good political relations between the two neighboring countries, the Iranian energy minister said that the ground is well-prepared for promotion of energy cooperation and implementation of joint projects in the field. Chitchian said Iran is determined to enhance cooperation with Armenia in the fields of oil, gas and electricity. The Armenian official, for his part, said his country attaches special significance to promotion of ties with Iran, calling for implementation of the agreements already signed by Tehran and Yerevan. Simonyan expressed pleasure with satisfactory life standard of the Iranian Armenians, saying that Iranian government treats Armenian minority fairly and they live in peace and enjoy welfare facilities in equality with the other communities./end
