Iran Min. Proposes Council To Boost Exports To Russia
Tehran, Sept 16, IRNA - Iranian Industries, Mines and Trade Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh has proposed the establishment of a coordination council for expanding exports to Russia.
The meeting to discuss strategies to expand exports to Russia was attended by a number of deputies of Iranian ministries and organizations, on Monday.
Nematzadeh said the trade, agricultural Jihad and foreign ministries as well as Iran’s Customs Administration, Central Bank of Iran and private sector associations can have representatives in the council. He suggested that the Trade Ministry preside over the council.
The minister noted that the council will be responsible for suggesting ways and executive solutions for boosting ties with Russia.
“We plan to identify suitable companies to hand over the responsibility of boosting exports to them. The companies are required to have international standards, bright backgrounds and full commitment in providing high quality services. These characteristics will help the country enter international markets,” he said.
Nematzadeh stressed that Iran should use the current opportunity to increase exports to Russia.
“Iranian producers, exporters and traders are required to pay more attention to the Russian market,” he said.
The minister urged the government to upgrade land, air and marine transportation, increase their fleets and buy or produce refrigerated containers.
“The Russian market is a favorable destination for Iranian agro, food and industrial products,” he said.
Nematzadeh urged deputy trade ministers to reduce tariffs, accelerate goods clearance, identify suitable land routes for exporting products to Russia and enhance banking interactions with Moscow.
He stressed that domestic producers and exporters should participate in expos held in Russia to showcase their capabilities and know the Russian market.
“Iranian producers, exporters and traders should identify Russian customers and pay due attention to their needs. Domestic private sector associations can play a significant role in this regard by advertising domestic products in Russia,” he said./end
