Italy Willing To Resume Co-op With Iran - Italian Envoy

Kerman, Sept 22, IRNA – Italy is keen to resume bilateral cooperation with Iran, Italian Ambassador to Tehran Luca Giansanti said in this southeastern provincial capital city Saturday evening. In a meeting with Kerman's Governor Esmail Najjar, the Italian diplomat hoped for further economic and industrial cooperation between Tehran and Rome. Referring to the upcoming meeting of the Italian and Iranian foreign ministers in the next few days which is to be held in New York on the sideline of the 68th meeting of the United Nations General Asembly, Giansanti hoped that Tehran and Rome would witness new phase in their bilateral relations. The Italian envoy also expressed hope that Iran-West nuclear dispute would be resolved through a peaceful solution. The ambassador said Italian officials were to practically prove that Tehran was pursuing nuclear activities for peaceful purposes. He then stressed the need for transparency and mutual confidence during bilateral nuclear talks between the two sides. For his part, Kerman's governor reiterated the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program stressing that no country could deprive Iranians of their absolute legitimate rights./end
