NCPO:Oil prices must be adjusted
BANGKOK, May 31 (TNA) - Thailand's army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) says that oil prices on the domestic market need to be adjusted in line with the market mechanism, including diesel prices.
Air Chief Marshal Prachin Chantong, a deputy NCPO chief tasked with overseeing economic affairs, told journalists that all concerned energy agencies are considering to raise the prices of diesel, mainly used in the transport sector, from 30 baht a litre, while the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), or cooking gas, for household use will also be increased by 50 stang (0.50 baht) a kilogramme to 23.13 baht from June 1, 2014.
Air Chief Marshal Prachin, who is also Thai Air Force Chief, said that the LPG price for household use will be increased monthly until its price reaches 24.83 baht per kilogramme.
The deputy NCPO chief also ordered local state enterprises, at a meeting held at the Army Club in Bangkok on Saturday, to become more transparent and to improve their performances and efficiency, while considering national energy security through alternative energy.
The state enterprises were asked to submit their detailed reform plans to the NCPO by June 2.(TNA)
