New Thai Smile Airways Launched

BANGKOK, April 28 (TNA) - Thailand's new lost cost airline, "Thai Smile Airways", which is a subsidiary of Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, was launched on April 27, ahead of its inaugural flight set on July 7, 2012. THAI Board Chairman Ampon Kitti-ampon and THAI President Piyasvasti Amranand presided over the public event at Bangkok's Siam Paragon shopping complex, during which the new airline's logo and cabin crew uniforms were introduced and reservations for its maiden flight in July were also opened to international passengers. Thai Smile Airways announced that its budget aviation services will provide both international and domestic flights, with its average cabin factor, or the proportion of reserved seats on each flight, targeted at 72.2 per cent, after its July 7 inaugural flight. Thai Smile Airways also targeted the number of passengers at some 300,000 and a total revenue of about one billion baht in the first year of its operation. (TNA)
