Rolls-Royce to expand investment in Thailand

BANGKOK, March 16 (TNA) - Europe-based Rolls-Royce Public Company Limited plans to further expand its investment projects into Thailand. Suranand Vejjajiva, Secretary-General to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, told journalists that a Rolls-Royce chairman, Simon Robertson, and other executives of the company, announced the plan when they paid a courtesy call on Premier Yingluck in Bangkok on Friday. Suranand said that the Rolls-Royce chairman expressed his company's interest in investment opportunities in Thailand and extended his gratitude for past support from the Thai government. According to the Thai premier's secretary-general, the visiting Rolls-Royce chairman insisted on his company’s plan to expand its investment into Thailand and share knowledge and technology to help develop operations of Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, and the potential of Thailand to become an aviation hub in the region. The prime minister then appreciated Rolls-Royce’s support for the development of Thailand's aviation and aerospace industries, acknowledging that her government plans to develop the Kingdom to become an aviation center in the region in the foreseeable future, as well as to construct an aviation and aerospace industrial estate and an aircraft maintenance base, persuading Rolls-Royce to take part in the development.
