Russia may supply Pakistan with Mi-35 helicopters for counter-terror operations - Kremlin

MOSCOW, July 6. /TASS/. Russia may supply Mi-35 transport and attack helicopters to Pakistan to be used in counter-terror operations, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said on Monday commenting on the upcoming meeting between Vladimir Putin and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif due to be held on July 10. Ushakov specified that the sides are planning to discuss "issues of bilateral cooperation focusing on intensifying trade and economic ties". He said the Kremlin expects the meeting "will give an impulse to both country’s trade and economic cooperation which can only boast modest volumes" as in 2014 trade turnover amounted to $458 million. "Among other important issues is Russia’s assistance in strengthening Pakistan’s potential when it comes to fighting new challenges and threats, especially terror. Moscow and Islamabad are currently in talks on supplying Mi-35 transport and attack helicopters to Pakistan which will be used in counter-terror operations in the country’s south-west," Ushakov said.
