Russian delegation to take part in investment forum in India

NEW DELHI, January 9. /TASS/. Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin will take part in the Vibrant Gujarat 2017 international investment forum to be held in the city of Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat State, located in northwestern India on January 10-13. The Global Trade Show exhibition is opening there on January 9 as part of the forum, with more than ten Russian companies represented at it. The forum’s organizers informed TASS that the forum would bring together delegations from 23 countries. Among its guests are Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, French Foreign Minister Jean Marc Ayrault as well as delegations from Australia, the UK, Vietnam, Germany, Denmark, Israel, Poland, the US, Sweden and Japan. The forum, which is considered one of the most important economic events in India, will be held at the Mahatma Mandir center. The agenda includes round-table discussions, conferences and meetings dedicated to the intensification of economic ties with foreign investors not only in Gujarat but also across India. Taking part in the forum will be Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. A source in the Russian Embassy in India has told TASS that Rogozin is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Modi. It is also planned that they will visit the Russian pavilion at the Global Trade Show exhibition. Among the Russian companies and government agencies taking part in the forum are the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Novatek, Rosneft, The Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), the Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and the Rostec holding company. "Representatives of Russia’s regions will come too," Russian Trade Representative in India, Yaroslav Tarasyuk, earlier told TASS. Apart from that, the Russian-Indian business forum, which has triggered interest from Indian companies, will be held on January 11. "The promising areas of trade and economic cooperation between Russian companies and the Gujarat state, one of India’s most economically developed regions, could be oil and gas and chemical industries, pharmaceuticals, automotive and defense industries, shipbuilding and the development of smart cities," Tarasyuk noted. The Vibrant Gujarat international investment forum has been held once every two years since 2003. This is the biggest regional forum in India. Its objective is to attract the best practices in business activities and promote the development of the regional scientific and technological basis.
