Sino-Russian aircraft gets CR929 name

SHANGHAI, September 29. /TASS/. A family of the Sino-Russian wide-body long-range aircraft received an official name of CR929, TASS reports from the name giving ceremony. Letters C and R in the aircraft name mean China and Russia accordingly. "The aircraft family name is CR929. The base version of the wide-body long-range aircraft will be designated as CR929-600, the junior version as CR929-500, and the senior version as CR929-700," Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation said on Friday. The project of creating such an aircraft is known since 2014, when Russia and China signed a relevant memorandum. It is known the aircraft will be designed in Russia and assembled in China. A Sino-Russian joint venture China-Russia Commercial Aircraft International Corporation (CRAIC) will act as a program operator. CRAIC logo was also presented earlier today. Read more
