Thai PM Confident Economy to Improve in 2015

BANGKOK, December 28 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha said Sunday his government is accelerating on solving the livelihood problem of the people and he is confident that Thailand’s economy in 2015 would improve. Denying that the government plans to dissolve local administrative organisations, Gen. Prayut said his government is now busy with finding space for poor people in making a living and solving high cost living for the people because he realises that most people are not happy with the rising cost of living. “I personally believe that general economy would improve in 2015,” said Gen. Prayut, adding that he is worried about the low-income earners and is finding ways to assist them. Touching on Article 44 of the current interim charter which gives power to him as the leader of the National Council for Peace and Order in taking actions in every situation, Gen. Prayut said he would exercise the power only in necessity and in constructive way. Presently, Gen. Prayut said, he has never thought of using it. In another related development, Duangkamol Jiambutr, a spokeswoman of Commerce Ministry, said the ministry has assigned provincial commerce nationwide, especially those provinces which grow rice to persuade farmers to switch to growing organic rice whose price is now over 70 baht per kilogramme. The switch, if proceed by farmers, would match the government’s plan to improve the quality of Thai rice and would also help push prices of agricultural products in the country, Mrs. Duangkamol added.
