Thai private sector to propose economic reform plans to NCPO
BANGKOK, May 27 (TNA) - Thailand's seven private organizations discuss national economic reform plans which will be proposed to the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) in the near future.
Participants in Tuesday's discussion in Bangkok include Board of Trade of Thailand Chairman Isara Vongkusolkit, Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) Chairman Supan Mongkolsuthee, Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) President Charamporn Jotikasthria, Tourism Council of Thailand President Piyaman Tejapaibul and Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations Chairman Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn.
Supan said there are six proposed ways to strengthen the Thai economy and society in a sustainable manner, namely the reform of investment frameworks in both the Thai public and private sectors, the improvement of education and innovation, solutions to social problems and inequality, good governance and corruption suppression, the improvement of government regulations and the introduction of new economic structures.
Supan affirmed that the private sector is ready to support Thailand's confidence restoration and economic reform for the sake of a positive change in the country.
Piyaman acknowledged, meanwhile, that the Thai tourism has been continuing with the number of international arrivals in the country expected to slightly increase to 26.8 million by the end of this year, from 26.7 million last year.
Representatives of the seven Thai private organizations then agreed to work out details of their economic reform plans and will hold their meeting again next week. (TNA)
