Thailand eyes better human trafficking record

BANGKOK, April 15 (TNA) - Thailand’s Foreign Ministry is eyeing better ranking on the U.S. human trafficking watch list, with U.S. experts having been invited to cooperate further with local officials to improve the local situation. Foreign Minister General Tanasak Patimapragorn, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, gave the update on Sunday ahead of the upcoming U.S. Trafficking in Persons or TIP report. Earlier in March, Thailand submitted to the U.S. a comprehensive report on anti-trafficking progress in the country, including ongoing Thai-Indonesian cooperation on helping illegal fishing workers. General Tanasak said no matter what ranking Thailand received in the TIP report, the country would continue to tackle human trafficking for the sake of humanitarianism and security. (TNA)
