Western Countries, Dependent On Iran Oil: Religious Leader
Islamabad, May 15, IRNA – A Pakistani religious leader said here Tuesday western countries need Iranian oil to overcome their economic challenges.
Talking to IRNA the Secretary General of Majlis Wehdat Muslemeen (MWM) Raja Nasir Abbas Jaffery said that the western countries cannot survive without the help of Iranian oil.
He also said that the members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) must realize that they are dependent on Iranian oil.
“They must come out of the Zionist pressure on their policies,” he added.
The religious leader asked meanwhile the United States and western countriesˈ leaders to revisit their policies towards Iran and stop putting unjustified pressure on Iran over its totally peaceful nuclear activities.
He was of the view that western policies of coercion have failed against Iran miserably.
“The western countries ever since the success of Islamic Revolution in 1979 have been trying to weaken the Islamic Republic by putting various pressures,” said the MWM leader.
Raja Nasir Abbas Jaffery said that the 5+1 Group must take confidence-building measures in talks with Iran to prove their sincerity towards dialog.
He said that western countries have to quit the policy of double standards towards Iran. “It is strange that on one hand they are putting unjustified sanctions on Iran and on the other side they want to hold talks with Iran to resolve issues,” noted the MWM leader.
He said that Supreme Leader has issued a fatwa (religious edict) declaring that the production, stockpiling, and use of nuclear weapons as ˈHaramˈ (absolutely prohibited in Islam) so there is no reason left for the western states to have more doubts over Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.
Secretary General Jaffery said that a positive outcome of sanctions against Iran is that they have made Iran self-sufficient.
The religious leader said that the US and European countries do not want to see a strong Islamic country progressing in nuclear technology.
He was confident that a nation like Iran would not bow down towards the western pressures./end
