15 new cars damaged in Honda showroom arson in Pattani
PATTANI, Thailand, August 22 (TNA) - Militants set fire to Honda Showroom in Thailand’s southern province of Pattani, damaging 15 brand-new cars and 2 motorcycles.
The incident took place at 2 a.m. Wednesday, when 10 armed militants stormed into the Honda Showroom in Nong Chick district; some of the militants held three security guards at gunpoint while the others poured the petrol on the cars in the showroom's warehouse before setting them alight and fleeing the scene.
Fifteen new cars—two Honda Civics and 13 Honda Jazz models – and two motorcycles belonging to showroom employees were destroyed. The roof of the showroom was also damaged, according to the local Honda manager.
He said the total cost arising from the blaze is initially estimated at 20 million baht.
The Honda Showroom belongs to a Pattani senator, the owner of the CS Pattani Hotel, which was targeted in last July car bombing. (TNA)
