2nd round of peace talks between NSC, insurgents kicks off
BANGKOK, April 29 (TNA) - The 2nd round of official peace talks between the Thai government, through the National Security Council (NSC), and representatives of insurgents in the Thai far South, led by the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) group, started in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital, on Monday morning.
NSC Secretary-General Lieutenant General Paradorn Pattanatabutr, who led the Thai delegation and called a meeting to review the Thai side's topics before the talks, told journalists that the parties concerned would discuss the alleviation of violence in the Thai deep South and five proposals the BRN had made through the YouTube website.
Ten people from the two sides attended the talks, while reporters and followers were screened out and the venue of the 2nd-round negotiations was kept secret for the sake of safety. The identities of Malaysian representatives in the NSC-insurgent peace talks were not disclosed either. (TNA)
