35th Malaysia-Thailand HLC meeting proclaimed successful

BANGKOK, August 30 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan has proclaimed the 35th Malaysia-Thailand High Level Committee (HLC) Meeting successful. Thai Defence Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Kongcheep Tantrawanit told journalists that the Thai deputy prime minister and defence minister expressed his appreciation to the success of the 35th Malaysia-Thailand HLC Meeting, held in Bangkok during August 28-30, at his meeting with Malaysian Chief of Defence Forces General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Panglima Haji Zulkifli Bin Haji Zainal, who heads the visiting Malaysian delegation, at the Thai Ministry of Defence in the capital. The spokesman quoted the Thai deputy prime minister and defence minister as stressing on solid ties between Thailand and Malaysia, witnessed by the continual exchange of visits by their government and military leaders at all levels. Besides, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok have supported each other towards the solution to problems of their common interest so far. The spokesman stated that during Thursday's meeting between the Malaysian delegation and the Thai military team, the Malaysian chief of defence forces insisted on Kuala Lumpur's support for Bangkok's host of the ASEAN summit and releated forums in 2019 when the Thai Kingdom will alternately take the chairmanship of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
