35th session of Interstate Council on Aviation and Airspace Use kicks off in Baku

Baku, October 23, AZERTAC The 35th session of the Interstate Council on Aviation and Airspace Use dedicated to the 70th anniversary of ICAO and 25h anniversary of the Interstate Aviation Committee, commenced in the Azerbaijani capital city. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, ICAO Council President and Luis Fonseca de Almeida, the ICAO Regional Director are attending the session on the invitation of the Chairwoman of the Interstate Aviation Committee Tatyana Anodina. Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Abid Sharifov, AZAL CSC president Jahangir Asgarov, rector of Azerbaijan Civil Aviation Academy, academician Arif Pashayev, foreign and transport ministers and others attend the event. Addressing the opening session, Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov stated that $15 billion has been invested in the aviation industry of Azerbaijan over the past 10 years. "Due to those investments the country constructed four new airports and fully upgraded two existing ones, renovated fully the helicopter and aircraft parks. Besides, a ground service was modernized fully, and national air carrier AZAL was awarded 4-star for the quality of service," Sharifov said. According to Deputy FM, the holding of the 35th session of the Council testifies about the actuality and importance of the aviation system.
