Advanced election for Thais overseas set March 4-16

BANGKOK, February 15 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has set March 4-16, 2019 as the advanced general election dates for Thai voters living overseas. Chatree Atchananant, Director-General of the ministry's Department of Consular Affairs, told journalists of the update on February 14, saying that there are now over 62,000 Thai eligible voters who have registered for the advanced general election at 94 Thai embassies and consulates in foreign economies. Chatree stated that like eligible voters in Thailand, those living overseas are welcome to register for the advanced election during January 28-February 19, projecting that there should be a total of over 100,000 Thai eligible voters registering for the advanced national poll in foreign economies. Chatree said that there are over 5,200 Thai eligible voters in London who have registered for the advanced general election, followed by over 4,900 in Sydney, over 3,100 in Canberra and over 2,900 in Los Angeles, as well as over 2,600 in Tokyo and over 2,600 in Singapore. According to the senior official, Thai eligible voters living overseas can register for the advanced general election in three channels, including going to register directly at the Thai embassies or consulates in foreign areas where they live, send their registration forms to the Thai embassies or consulates in foreign economies they live and access to the official website, www.khonthai.com, for their online registration. The senior official acknowledged that his ministry has started sending voting materials to Thai embassies and consulates in foreign economies for the advanced election, namely booths and ballot boxes, and will send ballots there after the last registration day on February 19.
