AMLO seizes casino, Islamic school in Thai far South

BANGKOK, February 6 (TNA) - The Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) has seized a building functioned as a casino in Bangkok's Tao Poon area and a land plot of an Islamic school in Thailand's southernmost Pattani province found to be used as a training venue for insurgents in the deep South. AMLO Secretary-General Police Colonel Seehanat Prayoonrat told journalists on Wednesday that the casino building sits on an area of 1,000 square meters priced over 10 million baht and had been subleased for three times. According to the AMLO chief, the casino operator was identified as Winyu Sri-ngernyuang and the building owner was identified as Samart Singjamnong, who is in fact a food vendor and is suspected of being a proxy of the real building owner, who has been tracking down by officials. The AMLO chief acknowledged that his office plans to seize a few more casinos in Bangkok and other provinces. Meanwhile, the AMLO also seized a land plot of an Islamic school in Baan Tha Dan of Pattani's Yaring District, as it was found to be used for training insurgents in the violence-plagued Thai far South. The AMLO chief said that petitions against the asset seizure can be filed within 30 days, and that, without any rational petition, his office will ask the court to approve the confiscation the assets to the state.
