Anadolu Agency has launched an aid campaign

ANKARA - Anadolu Agency (AA) has launched an aid campaign to help the people in eastern province of Van hit by a massive quake Sunday. AA Executive Board Chairman and Director General Kemal Ozturk recalled that earlier AA personnel extended great assistance to Pakistan hit by floods and African people who have been suffering from famine. AA started to cover developments in Van province as of first seconds of the quake and attracted attention of the world to the quake zone, he said. Ozturk said he believed that AA personnel would make great contributions to this campaign as well. A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Van on Sunday, killing at least 534 people and wounding 2,300 others. 185 people have been pulled alive from rubble.
