Authorities seek ways to assist Thais deported from Malaysia

SATUN, THAILAND, September 13 (TNA) - Authorities concerned are finding ways to assist illegal Thai workers deported from neighbouring Malaysia. Thailand's Minister-Counselor for Labour to Malaysia Pattaraporn Samatarat and her entourage met other authorities concerned in Thailand's southern Satun Province on Friday to discuss the assistance. The meeting followed Kuala Lumpur's notification that it is cracking down all illegal migrant workers, which stands as high as one million, down to zero, as of August 31, 2013. The Thai minister-counselor for labour acknowledged that up to 10,000 Thai nationals work illegally in Malaysia, particularly in construction and traditional Thai massage businesses, as well as in restaurants and the concerned Thai authorities are looking for legitimate channels to help them.
