Bomb Attack In Deep South Kills Two, Injures Six

BANGKOK, May 1 (TNA) - Two troops were killed and six others were injured in a motorcycle bomb attack in Mae Lan district of Thailand's southernmost Pattani province Tuesday morning. Local police reported that the fresh violence took place on the No. 418 Highway in the Pa Rai locality while two six-wheel trucks and two pickup trucks carrying the soldiers were passing the parked motorcycle when heading back to their camp. The new bombing attack came only two days after Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra visited the insurgency-plagued deep South. Mae Lan is the only district in Thailand's three troubled southernmost provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani, in which the emergency decree has been lifted, after authorities considered the situation there had improved.
