CCTVs in Bangkok thoroughly checked to ensure full operations

BANGKOK, May 29 (TNA) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) plans to conduct a one-month thorough check-up of all close-circuit television (CCTVs) installed in the capital to boost public security confidence. Somchai Taksiyanont, an executive of BMA's Traffic and Transportation Department, told journalists on Monday that the one-month inspection of more than 50,000 CCTVs installed in the capital's all 50 districts will be started on June 1. Somchai said an initial check-up has found that nearly 15,000 CCTVs installed in Bangkok and linked their operations with a central control system at the City Hall remain functional normally. According to the BMA senior official, the upcoming thorough check-up will be conducted on the remaining stand-alone CCTVs installed at public places and communities in the capital with no electronic connection with the BMA's central control system. The senior BMA official noted that the one-month operation is in accordance with recent orders issued by the government and Bangkok Governor Police General Asawin Kwanmuang. (TNA)
