CCTVs to be installed at all flyovers and underground passages in Bangkok
BANGKOK, November 21 (TNA) - The Traffic Police Division, under the Royal Thai Police, is installing close circuit televisions (CCTVs) at all flyovers and underground passages in Bangkok to watch out violations of traffic rules with legal action to be taken against violators.
Traffic Police Division Deputy Commander Police Colonel Kitti Ariyanont told journalists that his division's work on the installation of CCTVs at all 15 flyovers and underground passages in the capital has been set to be completed by the end of this month.
Police Colonel Kitti said the newly-installed CCTVs will function 24 hours and will be connected with his division's traffic control and command centers, with each driver found violating any traffic rule to receive a police notice of the license plate of his/her car by post and to be fined at the maximum of 1,000 baht.
According to the senior traffic police officer, each driver who is found overtaking and crosscutting other cars on solid lines of any flyover or underground passage will be notified to report to the police for paying the fine.
The 15 targeted flyovers and underground passages include those in Bang Khen, Chaeng Wattana, Ratchathewi, Din Daeng, Huai Khwang, Lat Phrao and Boromarajonani areas. (TNA)
