Chiang Mai Night Safari celebrates 10th anniversary

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, March 11 (TNA) - Chiang Mai Night Safari in the Thai North has celebrated its 10th anniversary by organising a party for its animals that have helped attract at least six million international visitors so far with a steadily- increasing trend. The "Khan Tok Party", normally a traditional Lanna feast in the Thai North in which food is served in different bowls for participants to eat together by sitting in circles on the floor around the food, was organised for the animals at the Chiang Mai Night Safari on March 10. The food included various types of vegetables and fruits, namely carrot, sugar cane, banana, pineapple and watermelon, all of which are well loved by the animals at the safari, the first and only night zoo in Thailand so far. Thursday's event attracted a number of international visitors, especially children and people living nearby the Chiang Mai Night Safari, as the crowds were eager to witness the cuteness of the animals and even helped feed them. Currently, there are 1,500 animals of some 140 species living at the Chiang Mai Night Safari, including elephant, small pony, sheep, rabbit, dear, iguana and even snake. (TNA)
