D-day for tow-away, Bangkok’s new parking measure
BANGKOK, October 21 (TNA) - The number of vehicles parking on prohibited roads in Bangkok has reduced, after a new parking enforcement measure takes effect for the first time on October 21, 2013.
On Monday morning, there were less cars parking in front of Sap Chan Phan Market, also known as Saphan 2 Market, on Lat Phrao Road, one of a total of 10 roads the Metropolitan Police Bureau has warned the public since last week that all vehicles are to be moved away immediately for illegal parking.
Tow trucks have been prepared by traffic police officers for pulling away any vehicle violating the new car parking rule, instead of being clamped.
There were no reports of illegal parking earlier in the day although police fined motorists who were still in the cars while temporary parking for buying goods at the market.
Fine rates for all vehicles parking on prohibited roads are 500 baht each, while additional daily parking fees at police stations of 200 baht for each sedan, 300 baht each for six-wheel trucks and 500 baht each for ten-wheel trucks have also been imposed. (TNA)
