Don Mueang Airport ready to cater low-cost airlines

BANKGOK, September 22 (TNA) - Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (AEROTHAI) announced Saturday that Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport is now ready to serve all domestic low-cost airlines which will move there from Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport as of October 1, 2012. AEROTHAI President Squadron Leader Prajak Sajjasophon said Saturday that domestic flight frequencies at the Don Mueang Airport is now about 250 flights daily and the number is expected to increase to about 400 a day after the rest of low-cost airlines move to operate at the Don Mueang Airport, aimed to ease traffic at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Apart from the increasing number of personnel and equipment at the Don Mueang Airport to cater the expected rise in flight frequencies, Squadron Leader Prajak acknowledged that AEROTHAI has arranged new flight routes at both the Don Mueang and the Suvarnabhumi Airports, as the distance between them is not too far way. According to the AEROTHAI chief, the number of officials attached to Thailand's air traffic control is also boosted, aimed at reducing heavy traffic on radio communications. (TNA)
