DPM:Thai industrial estates will not be flooded this year

BANGKOK, September 12 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittirat Na-Ranong has expressed his confidence that Thai industrial estates will not be flooded this year, as the construction of their dykes have almost been completed. Kittirat told reporters on Wednesday that the Thai government has almost finished disbursing a 120-billion-baht budget for the dyke construction, canal dredging, sluice gate maintenance and road elevation, noting that the tasks have been continuing. Assessing that local industrial estates should be safe from flooding this year, Kittirat affirmed that the construction of flood prevention dykes at six major private-owned industrial estates have nearly completed.(TNA)
