Fire rages forest in Thai South

THAILAND, August 9 (TNA) - Firefighters have been trying to stop a fire raging the Kuan Kreng Peat Swamp Forest in southern Nakhon Si Thammarat province. So far, officials have not yet been able to bring the forest fire under control, as the blaze has kept spreading through dried peat beds. The fire was estimated to have damaged more than 1,000 rai of forest land. Another wildfire was also reported at Tah Chang Kam Forest in Nakhon Si Thammarat's Chian Yai district, prompting officials to use satellite systems to monitor and control the situation. (TNA)
