Government is ready to take care of Thai victims in Mecca crane collapse

BANGKOK, September 14 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha confirmed that his government would take good care of Thai hajj pilgrims who fell victims in the construction crane collapse at the Grand Mosque, Saudi Arabia, Friday night. In response to the crane collapse that killed one Thai person and injured two other Thai pilgrims, Gen Prayut said that that the government was giving full assistance and Panu Uthairat, secretary-general of the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre, and concerned officials have left for Saudi Arabia to take care of the Thai victims. Sek Wannamethee, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, said the Thai consulate-general in Jeddah was preparing the burial of Wanida Sadi, 48, in Mecca in response to the intention of her family. She was the only Thai killed in the crane collapse. "The consulate-general has found two Thai pilgrims who were earlier missing. They receive treatment in hospital. Officials of the consulate-general already visited them and both are safe," said the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry. (TNA)
