Iran-Afghanistan-Pakistan Interior Ministers Confer To Fight Drug Trafficking

Tehran, March 16, IRNA – Interior ministers of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan held consultations in Vienna on Saturday on ways to fight drug trafficking. Iranian Interior Minister Abdol Reza Rahmani Fazli was present in the meeting. After the end of the meeting, Rahmani Fazli said that Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan are determined to consolidate cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking. Noting that during the meeting interior ministers of the countries presented a report on their performance in fighting drug-trafficking, he further added that Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan demanded world community, particularly UN, to have further cooperation in the field. Rahmani Fazli, also secretary general of Anti-Drug Headquarters, pointed out that Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan as the countries in the frontline of fighting drug trafficking can promote their cooperation to assume a more influential role in the field. The three countries believe in boosting efforts, as the region is going to face more serious challenges in future, he said. The seventh trilateral meeting of Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistanˈs interior ministers was attended by the UN Deputy Secretary General Yuri Fedotov./end
