Iran among food giants in Gourmand World Summit
Tehran, March 3, IRNA – Iran together with France and the UK has been granted an expert desk in 2019 Gourmand World Summit which is slated to be held with cooperation of the UNESCO in Paris.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the award-winning Iranian chef and author Samira Jannatdoust said she has been invited to attend the 2019 Gourmand World Summit in France.
Jannatdoust is the first lady publisher of prestigious books on cooking.
Gourmand is preparing the grounds for world publishers to get acquainted with top chefs and their publications which have been successful during the past three years, Jannatdoust said.
'It is aimed to establish a market for world prestigious books and to facilitate the procedure of introducing the books by their authors to the world publishers,' she added.
She went on to say that the upcoming event will be the best opportunity to introduce Iranian cuisine and taste to the world.
Gourmand has explicitly referred to the nominated Iranian book [written by Jannatdoust] as one of the best books over the past 10 years.
It is worth noting that the books written by Jannatdoust are supposed to be introduced as world reference recipes by Gourmand.
Iranian chef whose confectionary book has been chosen as especial book by Gourmand said, Iran is now participating in world stars and top chefs categories of the Gourmand World Summit.
The event is scheduled to get underway with the attendance of about 2000 VIPs, including ambassadors, publishers, authors, chefs, distributors, agents, photographers, food and tourism journalists, bloggers and designers, etc.
As mentioned by Gourmand, 'it will be an extraordinary opportunity to meet every important person in the sector while networking on previous books and future projects.'
The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau.
In 2017, books from 215 countries and regions participated in these prestigious awards, the only international competition of the sector. It is free and open to all languages.
Every year, Gourmand gives the awards in a very special location for gastronomy. The ceremony is always an opportunity to meet every important person in the world of food and books: hundreds of publishers, authors, chefs and journalists take part in these events.
The Gourmand Awards have been compared to the “Oscars” for film. They are inspired by the Olympic Games and their spirit.
