Iran-Malaysia Review Ways Of Facilitating Exchange Of Tourists

Kulala Lumpur, July 25, IRNA – Iran and Malaysia reviewed ways of facilitating exchange of tourists. During the second joint meeting between the Iranian embassy officials which also included representatives of the Iranian airlines and the Malaysian tourism organizations on wednesday, participants stressed expansion of tourism between the two countries. Senior Malaysian tourism official, Khalid Haroun, said the meeting aimed at working out ways to raise the tourism potential between the two countries. He said despite the fact that over 1,000 Iranians visit Malaysia each year, the number of Malaysians traveling to Iran is so meager. He hoped the number will rise due to future cooperation between government officials and the private sectors. The Iranian top official Mohammadreza Shams Doulatabadi who serves as caretaker of the Iranian Embassy in Malaysia pointed to cultural and religious commonalities between the two nations and said this has inspired over 70,000 Iranians and 15,000 Iranian students to choose Malaysia as their destination. He referred to tourism not as merely a trade but a way of further proximity between the two countries./end
