Iran Min., OPEC Fund Chief Confer In Washington

Tehran, Oct 13, IRNA – Irans Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyeb-nia held talks with Director-General of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), Suleiman J Al-Herbish Sunday in Washington. The meeting held on the sideline of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) 2013 annual meetings currently underway in Washington. During the meeting, the OPEC-related issues and loan strategies of OFID were discussed. The Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) each year bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness. This year’s, the Annual Meetings events opened in Washington on October 11 and will be wrapped up on October 13. The event provided an opportunity for economic officials to exchange views on promoting economic and banking cooperation. The World Bank is an international financial institution that provides loans to developing countries for development projects. Its official goal is to reduce poverty. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an intergovernmental organization that oversees the global financial system by taking part in the macroeconomic policies of its established members, in particular those with an impact on exchange rate and the balance of payments./end
