Japan Introduces Medical Technology To Help Improve RI's Health Services

Jakarta, Jan 23 (Antara) - Japan`s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) and Medical Excellence Japan (MEJ), a consortium of medical technology suppliers, plan to hold a seminar in Jakarta, on February 27. Deputy Director of the ministry`s healthcare industries division, commerce, and information policy bureau Noriyoshi Fukuoka stated that the seminar, themed "protection of all lives", is intended to introduce medical technology that will help to improve the health services in Indonesia. "We firmly believe that Japanese medical technologies and services can be of vital assistance in resolving the health problems afflicting the people of Indonesia, who are in the midst of emerging and rapidly changing lifestyle," Fukuoka remarked in a press statement released recently. The seminar will be attended by Indonesian Health Minister Nafsiah Mboi and Vice Minister for International Affairs of Japan`s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry Norihikko Ishiguro, and Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Yoshinori Katori. As of now, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are one of the grave healthcare issues affecting both Indonesia and Japan, he claimed. Therefore, the seminar will offer a great opportunity to both the Indonesian and Japanese healthcare professionals to share ideas and boost relations for further medical collaborations, he reported. "We strongly believe that this seminar will lead to improved business cooperation, transfer of technologies, sales of products, and creation of product sales agency agreements," he added. The seminar will be attended by Japan`s medical equipment suppliers such as Fujifilm Corporation, NEC Corporation, and Olympus Medical Systems Corporation.
