Japan's visa waiver to Thai tourists begins early July
BANGKOK, June 25 (TNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Japan will give visa exemption to Thai tourists as of July 1, 2013 onwards.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Manasvi Srisodapol told journalists on Tuesday that his ministry has been informed by the Japanese Embassy to Thailand that Japan's visa waiver for Thai tourists, starting from July 1, covers each stay of up to 15 days.
Manasvi, who is also Director-General of the ministry's Department of Information, acknowledged, however, that Thai visitors’ entry to Japan, each, remains subject to the Japanese immigration officers' consideration and decision.
The spokesman explained despite the visa exemption, Thai tourists are to prepare for Japan's immigration process by, for example, presenting round-trip tickets and financial evidence to show that they can afford their vacation in Japan.
The spokesman noted that Japan's visa exemption is a pleasant development and further enhance bilateral relations between Bangkok and Tokyo; so Thai people should maintain a positive image by not violating any law or norm during their stays in Japan. (TNA)
