Labour union demands clarification over dismissal of THAI president
BANGKOK, May 29 (TNA) - The Labour Union of Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, has submitted a letter to both the finance and the transport ministers, demanding for an official clarification over a decision by the THAI board over a week ago on the dismissal of THAI President Piyasvasti Amranand.
THAI Labour Union chief Chamsri Sukchotirat handed the letter to both the finance minister and the transport minister Tuesday morning, demanding that the Ministry of Finance, which is the major stakeholder of THAI, and the Ministry of Transport, which supervises the national airline, order THAI board chairman Ampon Kittiampon to clarify the decision and the government's supervisory policy toward the national flag carrier to THAI staffs.
Chamsri claimed that the THAI board has failed to provide the clarification to both the THAI staffs and journalists so far, acknowledging that the THAI employees are becoming more suspicious whether the firing of Piyasvasti was a result of any conflict within the board over THAI's procurement plan of a new fleet of 38 passenger planes.
