Making snowmen best time pass for Srinagar residents now

Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir, India), Jan 16 (PTI) With heavy snowfall restricting their movements, making a snowman has become the favourite pastime for residents of this northern Indian city which is the capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The snowmen have propped up across the city here as residents were left with little to do with roads blocked due to snow.
Most of the shops in major markets remained closed for the second successive day today.
Though making a snowman is not an easy task as it requires braving the chill weather and working with the snow, none of it has diminished the zeal of the people.
Some of the snowmen, built on the roadsides and in the parks here are as big as real life men, including the one created on the Residency Road here, which is nearly six feet tall.
A shopkeeper on the banks of river Jhelum, who rarely shuts his shop but was closed on Sunday yesterday due to snowfall, said he spent his day off from work "playing with snow".
"I made a snowman outside our home with my friends. Then I came home and made another in the lawn," said the shopkeeper Imran Ahmad, who lives on the outskirts of the city.
As he talked about a rare snow-sabbath, a teenage customer took out his mobile phone and flaunted the picture of him posing with a man-sized snowman inside a park in the city here. "We made it yesterday," he said.
Facebook has been flooded with pictures of snowmen created by Kashmiris insides their compounds, parks and university campuses. PTI
