MCOT appoints new president
BANGKOK, October 1 (TNA) - "Anek Permwongseni" has taken his new office as the President of MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT), a most established Thai media agency, as of October 1, 2012, vowing to direct MCOT to produce constructive media to educate the public and to introduce digital television.
Dr. Anek has also promised to support the Thai News Agency (TNA), a key arm of MCOT, in keeping delivering constructive, swift and reliable news reports and in introducing interesting and innovative programs.
Upon his arrival at the MCOT headquarters Monday morning, Dr. Anek was received by MCOT's senior executives. He then worshiped holy spirits at the MCOT head office and received a bouquet from the vice chairman of the MCOT board, Premkamol Tinnakorn Na Ayutthaya, who was acting president earlier.
The new MCOT president convened the management of MCOT and TNA right away, saying that he is familiar with many people at MCOT and they share same visions of introducing constructive and educational media contents and inspiring viewers.
According to the new MCOT president, MCOT will be further developed to become a state-of-the-art and leading Thai media organization in the third generation of industries which emphasizes on technological development.
The new MCOT top management insisted that MCOT will, in the near future, introduce digital television and further develop TNA into a national news agency with reliable, accurate and swift news reports; while he also plans to introduce interesting and innovative media programs.
The 57-year-old new MCOT top executive was a deputy permanent secretary for the Prime Minister's Office, the secretary-general of the Education Council, a member of the MCOT board and the chairman of Thailand Post. He was selected to be the new MCOT president for his visions and comprehensive knowledge about digital television and broadcasting and telecommunications laws. (TNA)
