MCOT presents New Year presents to far southern Thai youths

B ANGKOK, December 7 (TNA) - MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT), a most established Thai media firm, has joined forces with allied parties to hand out learning materials, school equipment and sport items as New Year gifts to youths in Thailand's violence-plagued far South, as well as necessities to local people and monks in the southern border region. MCOT President Anek Permwongseni told a press conference at the MCOT head office on Friday, jointly held with Secretary-General of the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre or SBPAC Police General Tawee Sodsong, the governors of the southernmost Pattani, Yala, and Naratiwat Provinces and chief of the Corporate Communications Department of PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), that the move is under a joint project of the allied parties themed "bringing happiness to southern border children". Anek noted that the project was introduced after journalists of the Thai News Agency (TNA), a focal arm of MCOT, has observed the hardships of youths and the other victims of the persistent violence in the Thai deep South and MCOT, thus, decided to become a centre for both private and public agencies to jointly assist the Thai far southerners by presenting them the New Year gifts.
