Phangnga holds watermelon auction to help flood victims

PHANG NGA, Jan 15 (TNA) - The southern province of Phangnga yesterday held a fundraising event, featuring an auction of a heart-shaped watermelon, in order to help flood-hit residents . The heart watermelon was auctioned off for 100,000 baht by a local businesswoman. The proceeds were handed over to Phang Nga governor, so it would be used to ease burdens on the flood victims. In addition to the auction of the world’s most expensive watermelon, a performance of the Thai classical mask dance, known as Khon, a contest of quality agricultural products, and a tourism exhibition were among activities at the fundraising event in Khura Buri district.
